Expertmeeting Artist-in-Residencies
DutchCulture talks to representatives of AiR programs and policy staff from municipalities and provinces about the importance and opportunities of AiR programs.

The Expertmeeting Artist-in-Residencies convenes representatives of artist-in-residence (AiR) programmes and municipal and provincial policymakers to explore how AiR initiatives can better partner with local governments and other policy areas. Taking place in Eindhoven during Dutch Design Week, the meeting will also showcase exemplary projects—such as cross-border residencies and municipal–artist collaborations—to stimulate fresh ideas for embedding residencies in regional cultural policy.
After the first DutchCulture Congress in 2023 and the subsequent Artist-in-Residence (AiR) Expert Meeting in Utrecht at the end of 2024, DutchCulture continues the dialogue on the importance of Artist-in-Residence (AiR) programmes.
Who is this meeting for?
DutchCulture invites representatives of AiR programmes and policy staff from municipalities and provinces to join the conversation.
This meeting is open to anyone who attended previous gatherings, as well as to representatives of AiRs, policy staff, and other interested parties who wish to learn more about cooperation between AiRs and local and regional governments.
Practical information
Date: Thursday 23 October
Time: 11:00 – 15:30
Location: TAC, Kronehoefstraat 30A, 5622 AC, Eindhoven
Why this expert meeting?
In 2024, DutchCulture met with residences, Het Huis Utrecht, and various government representatives to discuss the importance and opportunities of AiR programmes within cities and provinces. During that meeting, participants expressed a desire to identify good practices from AiR organisations that work with local governments and connect with policy areas beyond culture.
What is the purpose of this expert meeting?
DutchCulture brings together representatives of AiR programmes, municipalities, and provinces to explore how Artist-in-Residence initiatives and international partnerships contribute to a resilient art sector and address local socio-cultural and spatial challenges.
During the meeting, participants will discuss collaboration with the municipality, project developers, and partner Eindhoven Brainport. The discussion also highlights the Dutch Design Week and the exchange with Taiwan: soon an artist from Taiwan will come to Eindhoven, while two Eindhoven artists will take part in a design festival there.
Expert meeting during Dutch Design Week
At the end of the meeting, participants will have the opportunity to visit the Dutch Design Week exhibition Art d’Eco – cultivating the digital wild at TAC Studios in Eindhoven (18–26 October 2025). The exhibition explores the intersection of ecology, technology, and mythology, offering a visual and interactive experience of how digital technologies and natural systems intertwine. It invites reflection on our shared role in shaping a sustainable future.
